About
👋 你好,I am Alan Chen
- Developer · Indie maker · Distance runner
- Based in Xishuangbanna, China — usually typing in a café or running a mountain trail
- Former Douyin operator who escaped excessive hustle to build calmer, useful things
- Focus zones: Body (training, recovery) • Mind (sleep, focus) • Spirit (meaning, systems thinking)
I once trained four months for a full marathon, just to prove a stubborn spreadsheet wrong. Now I experiment with code, wearables, and a healthy dose of curiosity to optimize the other 99 % of life.
🪷 Why the name “Chen’s Chan”
Chen = my family name (陈)
Chan = the Chinese root of Zen (禅)
Together they rhyme, collide, and remind me that clarity comes from stillness, not speed.
This site is my small zazen cushion on the internet — a place to pause, inspect the code running inside my head, then refactor it in public.
🚴♂️ What you’ll read here
- Sleep & rhythm — data-driven deep dives, experiments, and the occasional nap chart.
- Training logs — from marathon blocks to spur-of-the-moment treks, with heart-rate geekery included.
- Builder’s notes — shipping tiny products like PulseRun and DearNight, lessons on solo workflows, AI tooling, and SEO trenches.
- Mind mechanics — essays on procrastination loops, self-talk refactoring, and borrowing ideas from cognitive science.
- Field trips — diving, fishing, mountain sketches, and why nature is the original debugger.
Expect one substantive post every few weeks, plus shorter “field notes” when something breaks (or works) spectacularly.
